Come and explore a 19th Century Country Estate and join us for a private escorted tour of Shene Estate 1819.
Located at Pontville, a 30-minute drive from Hobart, and a 15-minute drive from MONA and Richmond.
Each tour is personally escorted by a family member. An exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of this historic site created by convict labour and the Butler’s family vision, never before open to the public.
Tour includes access to the historic site’s Georgian farmhouse, 1850’s Gothic stables, 1840’s convict built barn, dairy and outbuildings.
Tours depart daily at 1000 and 1400 by appointment. Bookings can be made on our website.
Butler’s Bounty Tour is a walking tour including morning or afternoon tea served in the 1850’s Gothic stables. Cost is $35 (two hour duration).
Walk in History Tour is a guided walking tour. Cost is $25 (90 minute duration).

Shene Estate is passionate about ensuring that your visit is a highlight of your time in Tasmania. It is a privately-funded conservation project and was a finalist in the 2012 Tasmanian Tourism Awards. Tours play a vital and active part in the historic site’s future.
