Edge of the Bay Resort is located at Coles Bay, on Tasmania’s east coast.
It has magnificent views across Oyster Bay to the pink granite mountains of the Freycinet Peninsula.
This intimate family-run resort right on the water’s edge offerers two styles of accommodation: traditional family cabins set amongst the Sheoaks, and stylish contemporary ensuite rooms right on the beach with their own private deck.
You can choose to cycle the area, try out your skills in the resort’s dinghies, explore Freycinet National Park, go wildlife spotting at dusk, fish for the day – flathead are bountiful here. The resort has tennis courts.
One of the most memorable experiences is to sit in the Edge of the Bay restaurant watching the sunset reflected on the mountains of the peninsula. The restaurant’s focus is on local seafood and produce served with the best of Tasmanian wines.
You really need two days to explore the area: walking to Wineglass Bay or Hazards Beach, exploring Friendly Beaches, taking a tour to see if you will be lucky enough to spot a migrating whale or a pod of dolphins, bird watching or listening to the waves gently on the beach in front of your room.
