Herons Rise is a family-owned vineyard and holiday cottages at Kettering, in southern Tasmania. The Vineyard is located on hills overlooking the D’Entrecasteaux Channel, 30 minutes south of Hobart (34 kilometres/21 miles).
Established in 1984, Heron’s Rise Vineyard produces fine, cool climate Tasmanian wines including pinot noir, Rhine Riesling and Muller Thurgau—a German variety developed for colder climates. This variety produces an aromatic wine that develops tropical fruit characters with a little bottle age. The 2005 Heron’s Rise Muller Thurgau was awarded a bronze medal in the Tasmanian Wine Show.
You can taste the range of Herons Rise wines at the vineyard by prior arrangement and take home a bottle of the current vintage. Heron’s Rise also offers three self-contained cottages at the vineyard – the Studio Cottage, Clock Tower Cottage and Loft Cottage.
