Hollybank Forest Reserve is located at Rocherlea, just 20-minutes’ drive from the centre of Launceston, northern Tasmania.
This is one of Tasmania’s most popular picnic areas and has a distinctly European flavour. A 40-minute ‘walk of change’ passes through examples of Tasmania’s major production forests types in a demonstration forest. Interpretive signs show how each forest type is harvested and regenerated. In autumn, exotic deciduous trees are a colourful contrast to the natives. Hollybank Forest Reserve is a place where the locals drop in for a barbecue or stay for the day to celebrate a special occasion.
On the site is the Hollybank Treetop Adventure, where you can zip-line through the forest canopy. or try the Seegway Tours for something a little closer to the ground. For more information, check the tours website.
The site also contains a network of world-class mountain bike tracks. Short and long loops, suitable for beginner and advanced riders descend through the forest, which is just 20-minutes drive from Launceston. Turn off on the B81 at Rocherlea.
