Hamilton’s Cottage Collection and Country Gardens – Edwards Cottage (c.1800s) offers self-contained accommodation at Hamilton.
Edwards Cottage is a heritage listed convict built sandstone cottage accommodating three persons. It’s situated in the historic township of Hamilton, 60 minutes drive north west of Hobart.
The cottage is set amongst a country garden, furnished with antique furniture and against the cottage walls there are climbing roses, and in the fragrant garden stony paths guide you between flowerbeds and over lawns to seats in shady spots.
Wander round to the paddock, nibbled short by the pet sheep, and down to the river where platypus live. Take your rod and flies and try for a trout. Explore the many historic building of Hamilton and nearby visit Bothwell another historic town with more than 50 colonial buildings, the oldest golf course in the southern hemisphere and the Australasian Golf Museum. A short drive away is Mount Field National Park, home to well known Russell Falls, and nearby visit the wildlife rehabilitation sanctuary Something Wild, and meet some of the native wildlife; Tasmanian Devils, Golden Possums, Bennett’s wallabies, pademelons, Eastern Grey Kangaroos, Tasmanian Masked Owls, squirrel gliders and resident echidnas.
