Grey Sands Vineyard

Grey Sands Vineyard overlooks the Tamar Valley at Glengarry, northern Tasmania.
Established in 1989, Grey Sands is a family-owned vineyard specialising in intensely flavoured wines, suitable for cellaring.
The unirrigated, 3.5-hectare vineyard, produces close-planted vines of Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Merlot and 15 other varieties (8,800 vines per hectare). The aim is maximum concentration not maximum yield! You can visit the cellar door at advertised times or by appointment. Sample Tasmanian wine while enjoying views of the valley, or explore the gardens before taking home a few bottles of your favourite vintage.
The Tamar Valley produces around 40 per cent of Tasmania’s wines. You can visit small, boutique vineyards and state-of-the-art wineries to taste Tasmania’s world-class, cool climate wines.
December, January, February and March the vineyard will be open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 1200 to 1700 for tastings and purchases.
The garden at Grey Sands Vineyard is in the Open Gardens Australia scheme. Contact operators for opening times or visit the Open Gardens website. Our share of gate takings goes to West Tamar Rotary, and they run a barbecue as well.
Glengarry is a 30-minute drive north-west of Launceston (37 kilometres/23 miles), on the B71, Frankford Highway.
