Cleburne is an art hotel offering luxury bed and breakfast accommodation 15 minutes from central Hobart. A fusion of old and new, Cleburne’s heritage-listed sandstone buildings house fine contemporary Tasmanian and Australian art.
Choose from five uniquely furnished rooms; the Cottage, the Bakehouse, the Homestead, the Barn and the Stables, all grouped around an elm-sheltered courtyard.
The two-storey Cottage has a fully-equipped kitchen and a queen-size bed with two day beds. All other rooms accommodate two guests. The free-standing bath complemented with modern Tasmanian art makes the Bakehouse a special place to stay while the Homestead enjoys private access to the Reading Room, ideal for morning coffee. The Barn and Stable suites exude an aura of romance where raw stone walls and exposed beams contrast with leather furniture, exquisite linen and luxury fittings. Wake to a delicious breakfast served in the Dining Room or on the verandah.
Cleburne’s owners acknowledge Tasmanian Aborigines as the traditional owners of the land on which these buildings stand and honour the Mumirimina people who were killed at the Risdon Cove massacre in May 1804.
Cleburne sits in four acres of gardens overlooking the River Derwent close to the Museum of Old and New Art.
