With over 40 tables of collectables, including Stamps, Coins,
Bank Notes, Militaria, Badges, Postcards, Medals, Cricket and
Football cards and much more, there is something for everyone.
There will also be a number of exhibits including a very special
display by Jenny Frost who is the granddaughter and
daughter of postmistresses at Trowutta in Tasmania’s
Northwest. Jenny is preparing a major art exhibition using
the material/memorabilia she and her family have
accumulated over the years researching her family. Jenny
has kindly made some of this interesting collection
available for display at the Fair. Items featured are original
illustrated telegrams, illustrated telegram envelopes, from
her mother’s wedding in 1933, postcards and much more.
The theme reflects on the fact that there are important
family memorabilia hidden in our family cupboards so
always have a careful look before you decide you no
longer need to hang on to family items.
Other displays include Medals and Militaria, some of
which features a special tribute display to Sgt. John
Bellamy who turns 100 on July 17 th this year. John lives in
Lauderdale, near Hobart, and served in the British Army
during WW II from 1939 to the end of the conflict. He was
captured at Arnhem in 1944 (The Battle Known as “The
Bridge too Far”; the 75 th Anniversary is this September)
and was in the Parachute division serving in the medical
corps until his capture.
The event includes a Raffle, the main Prize being a
weekend for two at the Cradle Mountain Hotel, including
dinner, at their Christmas in July event on the 27 th July.
Door prizes run all day and snacks and drinks are available
throughout the day. Follow the signs from the Bass
Highway for a great family day out.
